Alan McDonald is a writer of screenplays, video games, prose and theatre scripts.
He is currently working with film, games and post-production studio Blazing Griffin, for whom he wrote Anna and the Apocalypse and a yet-to-be-announced sci-fi adventure movie. He is also developing a sci-fi thriller series for a major UK television provider and contributes to multiple in-house projects at Blazing Griffin.
In 2015 he completed work on Blazing Griffin’s space combat rogue-like game Distant Star: Revenant Fleet, which can be found on Steam, and developed a horror feature.
His one-act play Jimmy Chase and the Red Jacket Affair has been produced in both Scotland and Wales, and his short film Welcome to Sutherland Hill was screened at both the British Horror Festival in London and British Film Festival in Berlin (2013).
He has particular interests in female protagonists, genre storytelling and adapting American drama tropes into British contexts.
Alan has lived in Asia, taught secondary school English and Drama, sung in a band, written and produced his own web series and once gained a blue belt in Hapkido by successfully fly-kicking a teenager, despite at the time being very-much-not a teenager himself.
